Moisture mitigation for concrete floor coatings
Moisture-related failures in concrete coatings are by far the biggest problem for contractors and end-users. Moisture and concrete and impervious coatings don’t go together. There is water in the concrete when it is mixed, there is groundwater, there is a potential for rain during the construction phase. This water has to evaporate before applying a polymer flooring system. If not the chance of MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate) will cause the floor to become dis-bonded and subsequently fail.
Thermal-Chem’s #211 VaporGard, due to its unique formulation, is an extremely low molecular weight epoxy that has the ability to penetrate deeper than traditional epoxy products. Getting to the bottom of the capillaries and pores, and sealing them is critical in preventing future MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate) problems. In fact, our product reduces MVTR by over 80% as tested by an independent testing laboratory.
